Schedule Of Events
Moo Duk Kwan Instructors
The Moo Duk Kwan University camp brings some of the finest martial arts instructors in the world, including H.C. Hwang, Sa Bom Nim, the Kwan Jang Nim of Moo Duk Kwan and son of the founder of the Soo Bahk Do (Tang Soo Do) martial art system, Hwang Kee.
The Homestead Resort is in the mountain town of Midway, UT. At 5,500 feet in elevation, we are minutes from aspen groves, alpine forests, and mountain peaks above 10,000 feet in elevation. Room selections include a single King, double queen, or double queen with bunk beds. To ensure availability, register no later than July 11, 2022.
For those who choose to fly, we recommend flying into Salt Lake City Airport. It is approximately 1 hour to the resort. You can rent a car or look for carpooling opportunities with other members.
The event will be held in a mountain resort with basic hotel amenities (private bathrooms, beds, soap, shampoo, etc). Here are some items you may want to consider bringing:
- Training uniform (Consider bringing two)
- Sun hat, sunglasses
- walking/hiking shoes
- Lightweight shoes for training. Suggest martial arts training shoes or lightweight trail running shoes.
- Lightweight hiking clothes
- Light jacket (evenings can get a little chilly)
- Sunblock and lip balm
- Mosquito repellant (for evenings and when we are in the mountains)
- Swimsuit – There is a swimming pool and the “Crater.” The Crater requires a reservation.
The camp will provide:
- Water bottles
- In-room breakfast snacks.
The hike will be broken into two groups. The first group will hike Silver Lake, a well groomed boardwalk that circles a lake. The hike is flat and may be preferred for those with knee or hip issues. This hike is breathtaking and filled with wildlife. If you are lucky, you might even spot a moose!
The rest of the group will go to Lake Mary, a 2.5 round trip hike with 850 feet of elevation gain. The highest point is around 9500 feet. Bring shoes with good traction for this hike.
Regardless of which hike you choose, bring sunblock, mosquito repellant, and plenty of water. We will meet Thursday at 1:00 pm at Brighton Ski Resort.
