Tiger Tots is Wasatch Martial Arts Academy’s Soo Bahk Do program for children ages 4 to 6, designed to build listening skills, body awareness, and confidence through short, high-energy lessons built for a preschooler’s attention span. Classes meet weekly in Salt Lake City under the direction of Brian Corrales Sa Bom, a 6th Dan black belt in Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan, and combine simple self-defense concepts, movement games, and structured routine to prepare young children for kindergarten-level focus and self-control.

Taught by: Brian Corrales, 6th Dan Sa Bom, USA Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Technical Advisory Committee member.

Your Tiger Tot is at the perfect age to start building the habits that will carry them for a lifetime — listening the first time, trying something hard without giving up, and feeling proud of what their body can do. Our Tiger Tots program takes the traditions of Soo Bahk Do and translates them into a format built specifically for 4-to-6-year-olds: shorter class blocks, high-energy games, and instruction that meets little learners exactly where they are.

This isn’t daycare with kicks and punches. It’s a genuine introduction to martial arts, scaled to a preschooler’s developmental stage, taught by instructors who understand how young children learn best.

Why parents choose Tiger Tots:

Build Listening & Following-Directions Skills Tiger Tots practice waiting their turn, listening to an instructor’s voice over their own, and following multi-step directions — skills that transfer directly to the classroom.

Develop Coordination & Body Control Structured movement, balance drills, and basic Soo Bahk Do stances help young children build the gross motor skills and body awareness that support everything from handwriting to playground confidence.

Introduce Body Safety in an Age-Appropriate Way Simple, age-appropriate self-defense concepts teach children the basics of personal space and how to say “no” and be heard — foundational body-safety skills for this age group.

Grow Confidence Through Small Wins Achievable goals, frequent praise, and a visible sense of progress (like new belts) give young children real evidence that hard work pays off.

A Fun First Step, Not a Watered-Down One Games, music, and imaginative themes keep class moving at a preschooler’s pace — while every activity is still rooted in genuine Soo Bahk Do fundamentals.

Instruction You Can Trust Your child trains under Brian Corrales Sa Bom, a 6th Dan black belt who serves on the USA Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Technical Advisory Committee — instruction rooted in genuine lineage, not a franchise curriculum.

Soo Bahk Do teaches Tiger Tots:

Every lesson traces back to the discipline and respect at the heart of Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan tradition — introduced here in a way a 4-to-6-year-old can actually grasp.

Listening. We practice hearing an instructor’s voice the first time, without repeating ourselves three times.

Sharing Space. Tiger Tots learn to move safely around their classmates and respect each other’s personal space.

Fun. Movement games, music, and imaginative play keep energy high and attention spans happy.

Trying Hard Things. Every class includes a challenge sized just right for a 4-to-6-year-old — hard enough to matter, easy enough to succeed.
