Adult Martial Arts in Salt Lake City

You don’t need to be young, athletic, or experienced to start. You need to be willing to show up.

Most adults who walk into our dojang for the first time say some version of the same thing: I’ve always wanted to do this, but I figured I’d missed my window. You haven’t. Soo Bahk Do rewards patience and consistency far more than raw athleticism — which is exactly why it works for adults with jobs, families, and bodies that have some mileage on them.

What you’ll find here isn’t a fitness class with martial arts branding. It’s a complete traditional practice — physical, mental, and philosophical — taught in a genuine, documented lineage.

Why Train at Wasatch Martial Arts Academy

Authentic Instruction in a Verified Lineage Wasatch Martial Arts Academy is a certified Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan studio, teaching the art founded by Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee. Brian Corrales Sa Bom holds the rank of 6th Dan, serves on the USA Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Technical Advisory Committee and its Ki Sul Bu, and was personally appointed Moo Duk Kwan Heritage Liaison by Kwan Jang Nim H.C. Hwang in 2021. That’s not a marketing title — it’s a formal responsibility to preserve the art as it was intended to be taught.

Fitness That Doesn’t Feel Like a Chore Soo Bahk Do builds strength, flexibility, balance, and cardiovascular endurance through training that changes and deepens as you progress. Most adults find they stop tracking workouts and start tracking skills — which is why they’re still here two years later.

Self-Defense That Actually Holds Up Practical technique, trained repeatedly under realistic conditions, so you build genuine confidence in your ability to protect yourself and the people you care about — not choreography that falls apart under pressure.

Personal Growth With Real Structure Discipline, resilience, and focus aren’t side effects here — they’re the curriculum. The traditional belt-rank system gives you a clear path with visible milestones, so you always know what you’re working toward.

Community Built on Respect You’ll train alongside adults who share your commitment to growth. No ego, no competition culture — just people helping each other get better.
